In The Waiting

There will be days when you compare. Days when you have a longing for things you hope for in the future. Times when thoughts of something that you know will be so amazing if it’s according to God’s plan.

Some days you’ll fantasize about your life, and some days you’ll know you’re right where you need to be. All these days count.

God has lessons for us to learn through all the feelings. You learn to remember in the times of overthinking that each point in life is part of God’s ultimate plan. He’s always preparing you for something and His way is the best way. Lamentations 3:25-26 states, “The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” You may be waiting for the right guy who will love you for who you are, will be with you through everything in life, will be your protector/safe place, and more. Although, until God’s appointed time to bring that person into your life happens, which is perfectly planned out by Him, you first have to realize that all you want in a guy comes from knowing Him. I bet that each of the moral qualities of your dream guy is found in God. Romans 5:5 explains how, “…God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Therefore, all love originates with Him, so why not start at the source?

All love originates with Him so, why not start at the source?

John 15:5, 9 “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing…As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Abide in my love.”

Plus, He loves you beyond measure (Romans 8:38-39). In addition, Joshua 1:9 shows how God is with you when you go through anything, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” He is there to encourage, strengthen, sustain, and guide you. Lastly, Psalm 32:7-10 and 2 Samuel 22:2-3 illustrate how God is your Protector and can be your Hiding Place. When you learn to “delight yourself in the LORD, He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). In result, you’ll find that He will give you more of a desire for His timing, who He is, and what He wants.

God will redirect your focus from what you don’t have just yet, to what you do have available to you always.

People will let you down, even if they love you, because we are imperfect. That is why it’s essential to know and stand on God’s love first, before you are in a relationship, so it will also carry over when you find a partner. God’s love is consistent and will help you to endure anything that comes your way when you do step into that relationship. But, for now, He may just be preparing your heart and teaching you to lean on His perfect love. The season of singleness is one that is so important because it is where God works on pruning you and growing you. He works during the time when you are not involved with a person you have feelings for and are trying to impress. It is just you and God! This should be freeing and comforting as you realize that He knows you completely, still loves you unconditionally, and is gracious enough to keep you in His perfect timing, no matter how much you want what you want. A blessing can be a curse in the wrong season. God knows what you need and when exactly that you need it. He has a timeline for your life, and His timing is always perfect. So, when you start to overthink and/or fixate on something that you wish for, redirect your thinking to what God says and who He is. Then, your dream man and life will be left in God’s hands as you fall into His loving arms (Deut. 33:27).
