So Much Sweeter
You may be praying and waiting on God to bring good, like-minded, and loyal friends into your life. You may be looking for a friendship where you can encourage each other and have fun doing life together through every season. But you keep waiting and keep getting hurt in different friendships, so you are beginning to lose hope. I want to encourage you to go to God with it. And if you have already been praying for years, like I did before finding a good group of friends, let me encourage you to keep going. God provides in His perfect timing. For either situation, He may be trying to teach you to rely on Him and His love/support. Or He may just want you to grow in your relationship with Him before you build one with anyone else. When God brought the friends I had been waiting and praying for into my life, I absolutely knew it was Him. It felt so much more like a gift and an amazing blessing, especially after years spent dealing with different failed friendships and the hurt that came from them. Think about it like you have been hungry for hours and haven’t been able to catch a break to eat. But then when the food you have been thinking about is finally in front of you, that first bite tastes like the best thing ever in that moment. The wait magnified the appreciation of the food and the satisfaction of it to your body. The same happens when God finally answers that prayer you have been praying. When He gives what you’ve been asking for, God is saying you’re ready for it and you will appreciate it so much more.
In addition, you will know that it is only because of God that you have received the answer to your prayer. Your eyes and heart will be directed to God praising Him for what He did in your life to get you to that point. Lamentation 3:25 says, “the Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.”
God always wants the foundation of any relationship to be built on Him first.
He is good to those who seek Him as they wait, expectantly, for Him to move. The understanding of God being the only unwavering One in your life is essential. It is also important to learn to trust Him with your heart before anyone else. Psalm 40:4 says, “blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust..” When you trust the Lord, first and foremost, you will be blessed. He is the One who gives blessings, therefore, you have to trust His abilities to come through with His perfect plan. If you had to plan everything, eventually you would be in a mess and start looking back wondering where exactly you went wrong. At that moment, you would most likely turn to God hoping that He has a way to rescue you and a plan that will benefit you.
So, why not start looking to Him from the start?
Psalm 33:20-22 states, “our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, oh Lord, be upon us.” God is the only One who can truly help guide you and be your shield in the unknowns of life. Therefore, you can be glad in Him while you trust in Him and His timing. God’s answers to your prayers are so much sweeter, because it all stems from His steadfast love for you!
