No Matter What!
“No matter what!” That saying is usually exclaimed when talking about being by someone’s side. That no matter what happens you will be there for each other, and you will stick together. That no matter who, or what, tries to come against you, you are confident that you can make it through together. That no matter what is said or done, by outside influences or by each other, you will love and care for one another. Ideally, this is what people look for in those that they want to be in their life, whether a significant other, family member, or friend. Have you ever thought of God being the embodiment of that description for us too? In fact, He is the best representation of how this can occur in life. God sent His son, Jesus, so that no matter what tries to come against you in this life, it cannot overcome you. Jesus lived a perfect life and died under the conditions that we deserve due to our sin. He took upon Himself everything that was meant to keep us captive, deprived, and away from God. Jesus rose from the grave giving us hope and love to cling to like no other person can provide! In the Bible, found in the book of John chapter 16, Jesus tells us how He has overcome the world, but leaves us with a warning. Jesus states in verse 33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Jesus warns that just because He has defeated the enemy of our souls, it does not mean that we are exempt from the effects of this fallen world that we live in. However, He promises that we can have peace and confidence because of Him through it all!
Jesus knows everything we have been through, everything we will go through, and every emotion along the way.
He stays with us, encouraging us that, no matter what, He will deliver us from trouble as long as we look to Him! Romans 12:12 encourages us to, “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer” no matter what happens. No one, not even Jesus, said it would be easy as it is stated in John 16:33. Jesus’ life was not easy either, and in fact, He was the embodiment of that verse throughout His years on earth. Why should we expect our lives to be anything different when our Savior dealt with the same things we do? We may expect God to show up in a certain way when in difficult situations, but God does things according to His perfect will. He works in a way that aligns with His mission, kingdom, and purposes. God transforms each person to be more aligned with the way He originally intended them to live, the purpose He wants them to fulfill, and the way He created them to be.
We should focus on prayer, scripture, praise, and patience as we learn to rely on God no matter what!
The method God uses to bring each person through life’s circumstances may be different every time, but our method of getting through it with Him should be consistent. The following are some perspectives we can implement as expressed in Romans 12:12, we are to:
cling to the hope provided through Jesus’ work on the cross (His death) which brings rejoicing as we are freed and forgiven!
be patient while waiting on God, knowing that He is moving in our mess, even if we do not see or feel it.
stay constant in prayer, going to Him with every concern and emotion, surrendering it all to Him knowing He is in complete control.
There is comfort in being able to come to God just as we are. There is no need to have a “holy, put together” act on when seeking God as we go through life with Him. God is pleased with His children when they attach to His strength and power, knowing that they cannot do anything by themselves. He wants us to come to Him, operating out of our faith in Him, as He continues to increase our knowledge of who He is! Romans 15:4 explains that “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” The purpose of the Scriptures is to help instruct us in the knowledge of who God is and to spur us forward in ways to get through every season of life. Reading the Word of God positively effects your brain and spirit, whether you feel it or not. God’s word brings hope, life, and comfort! The Word helps remind us that no matter what God is present! He has helped generations before us, and He is faithful to do the same in the lives of His people today! If you walk with the Lord, you will always have Him to lean on as He is constantly by your side! Therefore, find peace and comfort in the consistency of prayer, reading the scriptures, praise, and patience, knowing that you can get through all things by doing so. Jesus takes you as you are and He is to be your source of confidence, love, and care- no matter what He is with you to overcome anything that comes against you in this life!
